I live in _____________________ in a detached house/flat on a housing estate/in the suburbs/in a residential area/ in the city centre. It’s in a walking distance/ a short drive from the _________. The neighbourhood is ___________. There are _____ rooms, _______ bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, a bathroom, a toilet, a larder, a dining room, a living room and a study. I have an own room. It’s spacious/quite small. I share it with my sister/brother. It’s nicely furnished with a double bed, a wardrobe. There is a desk with a computer opposite the bed. You can find a carpet on the floor and a curtain on the window. The window faces the garden so there is a nice view. The walls are painted orange/papered. We have a gas/central heating.
The kitchen: fridge, freezer, cupboard, household appliances/gadgets, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots and pans, cutlery, sink, dishwasher.
The bathroom: washbasin, shower cabin, bath tub, mirror, toiletries, cleaning products, towel rack. It is tiled.
The living room: sofa, wardrobe, coffee table, armchair, Tv set, bookcase, pictures.
Advantages of living in a house:
There’s more room, you have more privacy
It’s far from noise
You have a garden (keep animals, grow plants, sunbathe)
Disadvantages:
It’s expensive to run (higher rates: electricity, water, gas)
There are jobs around the house (mow the lawn, maintenance work)

Advantages of living in a flat:
There are lower rates
Disadvantages:
They are small, there is no privacy
You may have noisy neighbours (pipes conduct sound, there are thin walls)
You have to climb stairs if the lift is out of order

Advantages and disadvantages of living in the country and the city
Town: there are more entertaining facilities – theatre, cinema, museums, exhibitions, concerts
there is a variety of schools (primary, secondary, college) and places of work
there are better supplies in shops (wide choice), there are more services (banks, post offices, restaurants)
But:
there are traffic jams, rush hours
there is pollution, crowd, noise, hectic lifestyle
Village: there are friendly people,
it’s close to nature, it’s peaceful and relaxing, it’s clean,
But:
Life is boring
You have to commute to school and work
there are fewer services (few shops etc)

I live in a nice block of flats. We live on the 5th floor, so we have a nice view. There is an elevator in the building which is very useful although it is often out of order. So I have to walk up 5 floors, which is not always a pleasure. We have a kitchen, a bathroom, a living-room, 2 bedrooms and a balcony. My bedroom is not very big but I spend most of my time in the living-room. In summer I sunbathe or just relax on the balcony.

Egy szép tömbházban élek. Az ötödik emeleten lakunk, szóval szép a kilátás. Van egy lift is az épületben, ami nagyon hasznos, habár gyakran nem működik. Szóval ilyenkor fel kell sétálni öt emeletet, ami nem mindig nagy öröm. Van egy konyhánk, egy fürdőszobánk, egy nappalink, 2 hálószobánk és egy erkélyünk. Az én szobám nem túl nagy, de én a legtöbb időt a nappaliban töltöm. Nyáron napozok vagy pihenek az erkélyen.


Our neighbourhood is nice and calm. We have got a green park near our house and I often go there to meet my friends and we can walk a bit, which is very relaxing. The roads are not too busy and air is cleaner than in the other parts of the city. When I go into the city centre I can feel the polluted air. The public transport is comfortable and I don’t have to use my car.

A mi környékünk szép és nyugodt. Van egy zöld park közel a házhoz és gyakran megyek oda, hogy a barátaimmal találkozzak, itt tudunk egy kicsit sétálni, ami nagyon nyugtató. Az utak nem túl forgalmasak és a levegő is tisztább, mint a város más részein. Amikor a belvárosba megyek, érzem a szennyezett levegőt. A tömegközlekedés kényelmes és nem kell a kocsimat használnom.

My room is not too big, but I have everything that I need. Next to the door there is my bed. Above the bed there is a lamp. Opposite the bed there is a TV. There is a DVD player and a hi-fi beside the TV. On the shelves there are many books. I love reading, my favourites are the science fiction books. Next to the bed there is a desk where I usually learn and my computer is here too.

A szobám nem túl nagy, de megvan minden amire szükségem lehet. Az ajtó mellett van az ágyam. Az ágy felett van egy lámpa. Az ággyal szemben van egy TV. Van egy DVD lejátszó és egy hi-fi torony a TV mellett. A polcokon sok könyv van. Szeretek olvasni, a tudományos fantasztikus könyvek a kedvenceim. Az ágy mellett van egy íróasztal, ahol általában tanulok és itt van a számítógépem is.

In the living-room I usually watch TV in the evening. There is a comfortable sofa opposite the TV. When I have time, I read magazines and books or I chat with my friends here. Sometimes we play board games, for example Activity, the living room is very big so we have enough space. If I am too tired I just bring here my laptop and I use the facebook or surf on the internet.

A nappaliban általában TV-t nézek esténként. Van egy kényelmes kanapé a TV-vel szemben. Amikor van időm, magazinokat és könyveket olvasok vagy a barátaimmal dumálunk itt. Néha társasjátékozunk, például activityzünk, a nappali nagyon nagy szóval van elég hely hozzá. Ha túl fáradt vagyok áthozom a laptopot ide és facebookozok vagy internetezek.

I can’t cook very well but I am often in the kitchen. In the morning when I get up, I make coffee and some toasts. Fortunately I have all the electric devices and it makes cooking easier. In the evenings I cook some simple food like scrambled eggs or some pasta. I really hate washing up so I don’t do it very often. I put everything in the dishwasher and then unload it.

Nem nagyon tudok főzni, de gyakran vagyok a konyhában. Reggel, amikor felkelek csinálok kávét és piritóst. Szerencsére van mindenféle elektomos konyhagépem, ami megkönnyíti a főzést. Esténként egyszerű ételeket főzök, mint például a rántotta vagy valamilyen tészta. Utálok mosogatni, szóval nem csinálom nagyon gyakran. Mindent beteszek a mosogatógépbe és aztán kipakolok.

I like living in the city because I can find everything I need. There are all kinds of shops and places. I like big shopping centres because there are shops, restaurants and cinemas in one building so I don’t have to travel through the city. It is very good especially in winter when the weather is bad. Sometimes I feel that there are too many people and cars and in the afternoon there are always traffic jams. These can be stressful but I like living here.

Szeretek a városban élni mert itt mindent megtalálok amire szükségem van. Mindenféle boltok és helyek vannak. Szeretem a nagy bevásárlóközpontokat, mert itt a boltok, az éttermek és még a mozi is egy épületben van, így nem kell átutazni a városon. Ez jó, főleg télen, amikor rossz az idő. Néha úgy érzem, hogy túl sok ember és kocsi van és delutánonként mindig dugók vannak. Ezek lehet, hogy stresszelőek, de én szeretek itt élni.
