The film has two main characters, Griet and Johannes Vermeer. Griet is a girl from a poor family who tries to support her family after her father's accident. That's why she is a servant to the Vermeer family. Johannes works as a painter and creates his works on orders. Vermeer sees Griet's special sense of color and initiates her into the mixing of paint and the secrets of his paintings, while some sort of romantic relationship develops between the two characters. Vermeer's daughter Cornelia notices this and does everything to harm Griet. Vermeer's mother-in-law ignores it, to have enough money for the house, but Chatarina, Johannes' wife, cannot bear that her husband did not paint her, but the young servant girl. She sent him away from home.
My favorite part of the movie was when Vermeer showed Griet how to mix the paints. There you could see what the different colors were extracted from in the past.
The ending of the movie was unexpected, but overall it was interesting to see the story of the painting.
